Sometimes, knowing how to include the Global Competencies into your classroom means seeing lesson plans and units that other people have developed. I have included here a unit that I developed on the Lost Boys of Sudan, five additional lessons that would supplement units that I already teach in my classroom, and other unit plans developed by TGC fellows in my cohort.
Lost Boys of Sudan: A Globalized Unit Plan
Using the Understanding By Design format, I've included a full Unit on the Lost Boys of Sudan. This Unit plan is designed for a 7th grade ELL classroom, however many of the activities and lessons can be used and adapted to fit other grades or even other subject matters. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about this unit.
If you are unable to see the Unit above, please feel free to click on the doc file to download a pdf version.

"American Names" Supplemental Unit
I've developed an additional unit using Global Competencies for 8th grade ESL Reading to supplement a Reading Selection from the INSIDE level E book. This unit is an introductory unit for the beginning of the year. It not only introduces students to each other, but introduces them to Globalized standards and an international collaboration. As such, it is open ended. Activities / lessons in this unit can be used separately with other texts that discuss the same theme of Identity and Culture. If you have any questions about this supplemental unit, please contact me.

Other Global Lesson Plans
Included here are links to Unit Plans developed by other TGC Fellows. These plans cover a myriad of subjects, content and grade levels. I hope that by looking at these examples, you can better see how to globalize your own lesson plans. My thanks go out to the TGC Fellows who were willing to share their unit plans.
